O’Hare to crank up Heat

A REFRESHED Crios O’Hare says results show the Heat belong in the top four but they need to prove their consistency against the lesser lights to stake a genuine title claim.

The 30-year-old has returned after a US holiday to a relatively positive camp eager to build their finals charge and it must start today against Brisbane Roar Youth at Endeavour Park.

O’Hare said the Heat had to treat the technically gifted side with the same respect as those teams at the top of the table.

“They’re trying to prove themselves every week they deserve to have an opportunity at a club such as the Roar, but we need to treat it like any other game and not worry too much about them being a young team,” he said.

A win today should put the Heat back into the top four, but O’Hare said they had to take their fate into their own hands with momentum rather than relying on others slipping up.

“We’ve beaten most of the sides above us on the table so we belong in the top four, but we have to keep getting results against all the sides and we need to be consistently good,” he said.

The draw against Brisbane Strikers will be a source of motivation to get all three points this weekend, with the squad seeing it as another missed opportunity.

“Talking to the boys at training this week, everyone was devastated about the result and they all saw it as two points dropped rather than a point gained but at the same time, the vibe and the morale seems as good as ever and we’re confident we can make a run to the finals,” O’Hare said.
