END GOAL THE SAME

-

Q AI had come from the Northern Pride which was a semi-pro environment. My knowledge of the game of basketball was not good at the start. My brother and his wife had played but I couldn’t tackle people in basketball so I did not play. I had to adjust what I did work wise, but the end goal of my work is still faster, stronger and powerful. You need to adjust what you do to suit the game. You cannot put a lot of weight on these guys in basketball because you cannot be too heavy. Where in league, they need to be strong up top and do all that upper bodywork. They both work hard but they are different shapes and sizes. People used to ask me if basketball players are soft compared with league guys but some of the things basketballers can do, in terms of running styles, league players never could.

Over your career is there an athlete that stands out as the best you have worked with? Not in terms of their performance but body and athleticism and all that stuff?

ATell me about your time with the Taipans?

Scottie Wilbekin could have been anything, he is a freak. If he wanted to do it, he could do anything but he did not want to sometimes. He liked to lift what he wanted to lift, he wanted to press but not squat. Another one is Jamar Wilson. He could squat 200kg as an 80kg man. That is him. He loved to lift and learnt to do it. A lot of guys come out the college systems and do not have a great knowledge of lifting.
