JORDAN GERRANS made their respective Queensland School Sport teams for the School Sport Australia Under-15 Boys and Girls Australian Football National Championships in Perth.

Peninsula School Sport assistant school sport officer Jo Butland was pleased to see one of the best representations of Cairns players at a championship in many years.

“It is great we have got a cross-section, two girls, a boy and an umpire also,” she said.

“It shows the pathway and everyone, including umpires, is getting an opportunity to go away to these carnivals.”

Current Gold Coast Suns midfielder Jack Bowes made the All-Australian side from this carnival when he attended.

Davies has just returned from winning the gold at the National Basketball Under-16 Championship last weekend.

He added 17 points and seven rebounds in the final.

“Alex is at the age where he might need to decide what he wants, either basketball or footy,” Butland said.

“AFL guys speak very highly of him. It will be interesting to see how he goes in Perth.”
