AUSSIE TEST WOES

-

Q The Aussies got done in the First Test in Bangladesh. What do you think that says about where the Test team is at? A You can’t win everything. We’ve always had a bit of a problem playing spin overseas and it seems to still be. I didn’t watch much of it, just saw a few results and highlights. But there’s still a lot of cricket to be played. There’s nothing to say they can’t turn it around. Let’s also not take anything away from Bangladesh. They must have played well. But Australia would be desperately looking to improve on that. Q The Ashes are coming up this summer. Should we be worried or is it a different story when they get to the Gabba? A They’ll be embarrassed and hurting at the moment. Getting beaten by anyone hurts, so they’ll be looking to rectify that situation. The Ashes will be a long way off in their heads. They’ll be looking to set the record straight in Bangladesh before they get home. But obviously a bit of success on the board before you go into a big series like that is helpful. Q You had one of your best moments in an Ashes Test with your first ton in the Boxing Day Test of 2006. Why is the series so special? A That series we beat them 5-0, so it was a very special thing and because we’d been beaten by them in England the previous series, it was a big thing for the team. And that particular day was a special day for me because I did it with one of my best mates. They’re good memories and something I’ll never forget. Ashes Test matches are the pinnacle in my opinion.
