MANAGING POTENTIAL MAKING OUR OWN RULES

-

THE Iconic chief executive Patrick Schmidt says the reason the online clothing store has grown so fast is it created the space for people to realise their full potential.

“We’re operating in an industry where there’s no playbook, which means we largely write our own rules,” he says.

“That certainly includes how to reach our potential as we scale to keep up with sometimes unpredictable levels of hypergrowth.”

As chief executive, he believes one of his biggest priorities is creating an environment where his team can develop their strengths.

“Leading one of Australia’s fastest growing businesses, this is among the most rewarding aspects of my job,” he says.

“In the last year alone, two of our exceptional leaders have moved into positions managing teams of more than 100, up from mere single digits.

“You can’t always predict what tomorrow holds when you’re at the forefront of a new industry but we have a shared belief in operating in a world without limits and I love that.”

The Iconic, which has partnered with consultancy Bendelta to reach it’s development goals, has grown from five people to more than 500 in a little more than five years.

Workers are across areas from fashion to technology.

“It’s my privilege to foster collaboration across teams, so that people bring diverse talents and perspectives together to create something far greater than they ever could alone,” Schmidt says.
