“He just had no fear as a teenager playing in a key position in defence against guys sometimes 10 years or so older than him. Hopefully he can follow the lead of Jack Bowes into the AFL.”

Graham has been selected in the “Team Enright” with the teams competing in the match named after former and recently retired AFL champions Corey Enright and Brent Harvey.

The Enright team will be coached by the AFL Academy assistant coach Brad Johnson.

AFL National and International Talent manager Kevin Sheehan said the game will be an exciting chance for fans to see the game’s future stars.

“The Under-17s Enright v Harvey match at Simonds Stadium will give fans an insight to the players who will become household names following next year’s AFL Draft,” Sheehan said.

“We are pleased to have the support of two champions of the game who retired at the end of last year in Corey En- right and Brent Harvey.”

Earlier this year, Gold Coast academy manager Jason Torney was quietly confident fellow Saints junior Caleb could join Bowes at the club in coming seasons.

Before Graham steps out on the national stage, he and another Cairns Saint Jacob Heron will play in today’s 2017 QAFL Seniors grand final for Palm Beach Currumbin.

The Lions will play Labrador at Southport from 2.30pm today.
