GREENY’S APPRENTICE

-

Q AQ AWhat’s your main role as an assistant coach to Paul Green during the season?

A big part of my role is working with our three affiliates in the Intrust Super Cup and just making sure our players that go back to those three clubs are improving and developing and I work with those guys with vision from their games and working on the field with them as well.

How has Greeny been able to manage such a tough year? What’s his secret?

This is only my first year working with Greeny but one of the things that is really obvious to me is his unwavering belief in himself as a coach and his plans and structures he has in place. Who carries out those plans and structures, I think in his mind is almost irrelevant. I think, for him, our strength is our structure and our plan and the process that we undertake and I think he’s just got so much faith in the structures he’s got in place that anyone can come in and if he can get the group he’s working with to buy in and believe in it, who does it is irrelevant. From Round 2 when we lost Thumper (Matt Scott) to when we lost JT and other casualties during the year, at no stage has there been any panic or any sense we need to change what we do.

Q AHow do the Cowboys beat the Roosters tonight down there in Sydney?

I think at the moment we’re doing a lot of things really well. I don’t think we need to improve a lot. But the Roosters are a step up from the past two weeks. They’ve got threats across the park. I feel like every club at this time of year hopes and prays to go on a run and get momentum and hit their straps and for everything to be clicking at this time of year … I feel like we’re that team.
