JANGO NOT FAR AWAY

-

Q Your nephew Javid “Jango” Bowen, who played a handful of games and for the Northern Pride this year, is in the Cowboys’ grand final squad. How big will just being part of the big show be for his development? A He’s been playing well. Every chance he got to play first grade I thought he held his own and he’s

only going to get better mate over the years once he does cement a spot in the first grade side. He comes from the same community and he was a shy kid coming through and all he needed was just an opportunity and he took it with both hands and if he gets a chance this weekend I’ll be right behind him and supporting him any way we can. Just being a part of the team and the build-up and what goes on in grand final week – I was there in ’05 – and unfortunately I didn’t get the win but being part of the week, the community gets behind you. It’s something to experience and I’m sure next time he does get the opportunity, he won’t let it slip. If he misses out, I’m sure it makes him more hungry next time.
