On Dustin Martin’s father

Re: Nicholas Reece (CP, 29/9), don’t let your heart rule your head. Listening to you is what got Gillard kicked out. Jo, Woree Nicholas Reece your piece on Shane Martin boo-hoo. Good riddance to this rubbish. Didn’t take Australian citizenship despite being here 30 years. Phil, Freshwater We do not want convicted criminals and others who cannot live within our laws in our country. The correct thing to do to protect our citizens is deportation, no matter how long they have been here. Laws are there to protect us all. At least we have one minister with intestinal fortitude. Sue, Edge Hill Really, Nicholas Reece, no matter which way you want to spin it, Shane Martin made his bed, now he has to lie in it. Don’t feel sorry for this bloke, feel sorry for his victims. Icarus, Atherton

On grand finals

Good luck to the two best teams in the AFL and the NRL this weekend. Go the mighty Adelaide Crows and the irresistible NQ Cowboys. Giddy up boys and bring home the bacon. The Black Adder, Mt Sheridan Re: NRL tipsters (CP, 29/9). interesting to see 12 out of the 15 of your local business- es, who rely on local support, have backed the Storm. Especially our own Northern Pride boss. Well done to the three legends who backed the boys. Disgusted NQlander AFL as usual “kills” NRL for grand final entertainment. Rap is code for “can’t sing”. Mackleless, Trinity Beach

On same-sex marriage

Loye Achilles (CP, 29/9) wants to know who has had their marriage defined by others. Um, that would be everyone, Loye, since the dawn of time. Woz, Parramatta Park Re: Allan Small not voting yes because of an unsolicited text message (CP, 29/9). Clearly SSM as an issue means a lot to you Allan if you’re prepared to change your vote on a whim. Delete the text and move on with your life like the rest of us. Atticus, Cairns

On other matters

Some of the very scientists the IPCC relies on have admitted their climate models are wrong. The CO2 scare is over. That should be front page of every newspaper. Higgs, Tolga Well put Gerry from Smithfield (CP, 29/9). Come on you average Aussie workers. Reclaim Australia at the next election. Forget deedle-dee and deedledumb. They are self serving. Don, Earlville Hey Higgs (CP, 29/9). I was watching the spectacular massive blades being unloaded. I was impressed with the technology and happy with the project. There is no totally environmentally friendly way of harnessing a power supply. Coal is so last century so I support cleaner free fuel technologies. Hopeitswindy, Cairns Atticus (CP, 29/9) check your history books. The Ku Klux Klan were slave-owning Democrats (i.e. they were the righthand side of the extreme left of politics). Miss T, Tolga
