Ben a star in Mareeba
MAREEBA was always proud of Ben Hampton but his profile has gone to another level since making the move north.
The Cowboys’ charge has every corner of the Far North buzzing and Mareeba Junior Rugby League Club president Darrin Hastie said Hampton’s presence in the navy blue and yellow was the talk of the town.
“Being just that little bit closer to home, people switch on a little bit more to him,” he said. “A lot of our kids went to the game in Cairns against the Rabbitohs and he was pretty popular then.”
Hastie said the Cowboys’ effort to make the grand final showed anything was achievable with the right mindset.
