AIMING FOR BALANCE

-

QThis might be jumping the gun but as Jamie Pearlman steps up to first assistant in Cairns, are you interested in taking over the Cairns Marlins if that job comes up?

AAt this stage Jamie will stay with the Marlins and that is a program he has done very well with the last couple of years. That has been his opportunity to evolve as a coach as well sitting in the head coaching seat. The intention at this stage is that he will stay with the QBL team and hopefully they can make another big run at it.

QYou have moved to the Far North with your young family — wife Kristy and 11-month-old son Jude, how important is that work-life balance for you?

AMy wife has been unbelievably supportive of my career and allowing me to spend the hours away from my family to be in this sport. Now we have a young son, I feel the pressure myself as I want to be around him as much as possible. He is up and about, walking around and doing stuff. That work-life balance stuff is obviously a challenge but my wife and son are hugely important to me and I want to make sure I can spend quality time with them as well as my basketball commitments.

QHow do you see the Snakes’ new faces fitting in this season?

AThe additions of Scoochie Smith and Michael Carrera is exciting as well as a young athlete in Kuany Kuany. They are just going to add to what is already there. The expectations internally are obviously high because we have that core group as well as exciting additions.
