SPORTS FAN IN HIS ELEMENT TALKS CALLING

-

Q AI hear you’re a pretty big baseball fan and basketball as well. Tell us about that.

I’m in a job I love but my dream job ... I hear Bruce McAvaney commentate the AFL and the Olympics and stuff and to be a sports caller is something I’d love to do. A lot of spare time is spent looking up sports results like baseball, cricket and ran- dom sports. I do have a big attraction to the American sports. I love how they get into their playoffs and baseball is such a long season. This year it’s baseball, last year I was heavily involved in the NBA, following the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors pretty closely, but sport is my life and I enjoy any sport. Tennis is obviously the major one but I’ll sit through all the AFL finals, NRL finals and I’ve had the baseball on pretty much every day here.

Q AYou must be a pretty big Taipans fan. How do you think this season will go for them?

Obviously against the 36ers was tough and it’s tough when you’re missing one of your big stars. Nate Jawai might be gone for the season and you really see what teams are made of when you get those setbacks. You look at the Cowboys, they went through the finals without Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott, but they got to the finals and hopefully the Taipans can see they’ve got some other players there that can pull them through. I’d love to see them eventually get an NBL title.
