Support and love needed

-

THE last fortnight has been a heartbreaking time for the Far North, especially the loves ones of 11 people.

It seems inevitable families and friends have lost six young fishermen after their fishing boat capsized in rough weather off the central Queensland coast earlier this week.

Yesterday family man David Oui was farewelled after the 25-year-old father was killed in a sugarcane harvesting accident at Mossman.

Anne Cameron, 79, was taken by a large crocodile in a creek near her Port Douglas aged care home on October 10.

The Mission Beach community is reeling after the tragic deaths of three residents, Kerrie Pike, Toby Turner and Peter Dawson, in a skydiving collision with the first beachside memorial service yesterday.

The tragedies have hit the region particularly hard.

Every one of the 11 had families, loved ones, friends and colleagues.

Their lives touch so many people and the consequences are being felt throughout the region, across the nation and the world.

The loved ones of all 11 need much support, love and care at this time and well into the future.

The Far Northern community always rallies around those in need and the people closest to the 11 will require a lot of emotional support.

Each of the circumstances is tragic and hard to fathom.

Fate is extraordinary and plays a large part in each of these calamities.

A lot of grieving is happening. A lot of answers are being sought.

Those directly affected are advised to seek help and not go it alone. Nick Dalton Deputy editor
