GET YOUR MOTOR RUNNING

-

ANYONE considering getting into motorsports has probably baulked at what it may cost, but Khanacross is the affordable, entry level alternative. The sport is designed for the whole family to be involved in and consists of times runs on various marked courses. Participants don’t need a fancy vehicle to take part. Any normal road car is suitable for use. It does not need to be road registered, but does need to be mechanically sound without major damage and have correctly functioning seats and seatbelts, brakes and steering. Drivers need to wear an approved helmet and covered footwear. The Far North Queensland Motorsports Club is hosting its major Khanacross event of the year at its Tepon Raceway venue at

Herberton on November 25-26. The club also regularly holds events at its second venue at Rallysport Park in Mareeba. To be allowed to compete, drivers need to join a CAMS affiliated car club, such as FNQ Motorsports Club, where you can obtain a CAMS Level 2NS licence. A civil drivers licence is not required to compete in Khanacross. Drivers as young as 12 years old can compete and multiple drivers can use the same car. Even if you are not driving there are volunteer official roles as well, such as timing and course marking.
