On state election

The political cash splash buying gullible voters is like throwing burley in the sea, they do it every time. Judge them on performance not promises because your grandchildren will be the workers paying down the debt, if they can get a job. Brian, Kuranda

If there is a God and One Nation gets the balance of power we are certainly going to need his or her help. Icarus, Atherton

Most Queenslanders haven’t a clue who they are voting for ... just a roadside mugshot and mickey mouse slogans. 2Tall Jones, Cairns City

On climbing Uluru

Paul, Cairns (10/11). Indigenous law was different for every nomadic mob. Existing mobs are no longer nomadic, but I’d be curious to see a list of existing indigenous laws. There never was and still isn’t a law regarding climbing the Rock. If you know of one, let us all know. There are cultural and sacred issues regarding locations around the base which should be respected. Ivan, Gordonvale

Julian Tomlinson (9/11). Straight talking. Again you said what 80 per cent of us dare to say. We need you in politics. Don, Earlville We should be able to climb Ayers Rock cause we are all Australians. Janelle, Woree

On other matters

Pitt, what a croc. (CP, 9/11). We had no croc attacks prior to their relocation by National Parks and Wildlife Service. Another $5.8 million survey, what a waste. Dotch, Portsmith

How many ex-prime ministers and ex-members of parliament are receiving pensions, even gold cards when they were dual citizens? Renumeration while being an illegal member of the Australian Parliament (as per the Constitution). This needs to be stopped and money repaid. Will this ever happen? Viv, Earlville

Re: Sheridan St ute fire. Why couldn’t that car be dragged into the side street and open the road. Five hours to clear a non-fatal accident is beyond ridiculous. Late for work, Cairns

Strongly disagree Josip Crijen (letters, 9/11). A Melbourne Cup public holiday would rob workplaces of the collegiate atmosphere and kill the shared vibe. Terrible idea. Miss T, Tolga

If, as suggested the Labor and Liberal Party are indistinguishable, why not join together and become known as the Shortbull or the Bullshort Parties. Ron, Malanda

$9.5 million for rehab centre for drug abuse will not solve the problem. We need resources to catch the ones selling the drugs and how do these kids get the money to buy the drugs. John, Gordonvale

Again. When are the one’s responsible going to stop these rude, arrogant people smoking at bus stops. Fair dinkum, we are sick of it. Greg, Cairns

?? Picture: ISTOCK ?? BUTT IT OUT: One texter is fed up with people smoking at bus stops and wants someone to police this issue.
