KEEPING UP WITH THE REVOLUTION
Q
Women’s sport is exploding right now. How does the NRL keep up?
A
I think while other sports are lucky enough to have turned professional, it’s really important within our organisation, we take the right steps. You don’t want to jump into something too early. It’s about creating and producing a really good product initially and then hopefully having that professional competition soon. We’re not there just yet, but moving forward young girls will be able to call themselves professional rugby league players, which is wonderful.
Q
Do you follow any rival codes? Who are you most impressed with?
A
I try to follow most other women’s sport. I loved watching Jodie Fields (right) in cricket and I was lucky enough to get to meet her and Shannon Parry in the Rugby Sevens and I follow a few girls in the Matildas as well. You’ll never see me bagging any other organisation, because us women need to stick together and empower one another.
