SUPPORT ALL THE WAY

-

Q Your dad was a great footballer, Mark played 87 times for the Geelong Football Club during the 1970s, kicking 60 goals, what was it like having an athlete father growing up? Did it help you and your sister with your preparation?

A Dad is my harshest critic and my biggest fan and for that I’ll always be grateful to have him as my Dad. Sometimes, if you knew you’d played a shocker, both Madi and I knew we’d be in for a spray but I think I’d attribute where we are today to our parents and how passionate and supportive they were of anything we wanted to do. He knows what it takes to play at that level so if I ever found myself losing focus or direction, I know he’d be in my corner giving me advice.

Q I read recently Diamonds shooter Caitlin Bassett ( pic-

tured) said you were ready to make your international debut, do you feel you are close to that level?

A It’s obviously the pinnacle of the sport and somewhere I really aspire to be. I want to keep working on my game and building consistency in Suncorp Super Netball and I think if you’re doing that and enjoying yourself along the way you are putting your best foot forward.

Q Would you like to see a place like Cairns be involved in any future expansion of Suncorp Super Netball?

A We’d love to maintain our relationship with Cairns and promote the game of netball in this region. There definitely is potential for further growth as more sporting bodies are starting to bring national and international events to Far North Queensland.
