BRIGHT STARTERS

-

QYour first main job landing on the Gold Coast was obviously the trade and draft period, how do you feel the Suns went bringing in fresh talent for 2018?

AGetting Fremantle Dockers youngster Lachie Weller into the footy club is a massive positive for us. We certainly think on-field he can have a real impact next year as he has already played 40 odd games in the system. He is ready to go. And, offfield, we think he is great in terms of being a pro, preparing to play AFL football and he will be a good role model for much of our team. Unfortunately Harrison Wigg, who we got from Adelaide, has broken his ankle in the last week which was a real shame. He came in and started to find his feet at the footy club. He will have a delayed start to the season because of that. Harrison needs to have a really good preseason and then is ready to be an AFL player. The other guy we brought in was Aaron Young, from Port Adelaide, and we were really rapt to be able to get him. He has a great character and I think he can add to our footy side if he plays forward or through the midfield. Aaron has slotted into the club and that has been really pleasing. Aaron did not quite get the opportunities at Port the last couple of seasons as they are a strong football club but we think he can be a seriously good AFL player and we are really keen to give him that opportunity. Those guys have really integrated themselves into the team and the way the group has accepted them, has been great from my perspective.
