Q Was it eye-opening to see how the sport operated in Europe?
A
It was quite professional compared to how things are run over here. That said, it just wouldn’t work here because there aren’t the dollars and the travel is so much harder. Outside of the squash, I was meeting new people wherever I went. Experiencing the cultures and seeing the world was a bonus. But if you did well in a tournament you didn’t see much of where you were staying, so it was a two-sided coin. I didn’t own a car while I was there. I just had a bicycle and public transport is so efficient in the Netherlands. I never really got used to the cold though. I guess I’m a true Far North Queenslander.
