GOING UP AGAINST BEST

-

Q You spent more than a decade on tour and made it to No.45 in the world. How do you look back on your career? A

It was such a competitive tour. On any given day you could get beaten. The top eight in the world are so hard to beat and they always play with the white ball on glass, whereas normally you play with a black on a regular court, which is hard to get used to. At a big tournament it can be hard, especially when you don’t get much time on the court. It can be distracting but if you’re really focusing on the ball and playing well, outside distractions don’t mean too much. I’m quite happy not to be travelling anymore. It almost became a chore in the end. It wasn’t exciting anymore. It was just part of the job. But looking back on it, I don’t regret any of it.
