THE sky is the limit for Far North jiu jitsu junior Codey Clyde Toft.

At just 10 years of age, the promising youngster will travel to the World Youth Titles later this year and take on the best the world has to offer.

Last year was huge for Codey as he claimed a Queensland title, won gold at a Pan Pacific event in Melbourne and scored eight golds at the WKA Northern Queensland event in Townsville.

He perfects his craft at Cairns’ Fusion Fight and Fitness. The academy’s Garrett Maunder says Codey is dedicated.

“He has a great attitude to coaching and has already gone a far way in the sport,” Maunder said.

“He has won a lot of local competitions as well as the Pan Pacific event in Melbourne, which is the biggest of its kind in Australia.”

Codey’s dad, Dave Toft, said he was proud of the promising talent.

“He was chosen by his academy’s head coach Garrett and wife Jeska Maunder to go on a Brazilian jiu jitsu team tryout camp to de Been 100% Jiu Jitsu, headed by Peter de Been, which is Australia’s leading jiu jitsu academy, at the end of last year,” Toft said.

“He was selected to be a part of the Australian team to compete in the world youth titles after the camp by Peter and Max de Been.

“Codey trains under Garrett Maunder three times a week for Brazilian jiu jitsu and does kickboxing also.”

The World Youth Titles will be held in April in Abu Dhabi.
