Crocs keen for opener

-

“I am looking forward to getting on Cazalys, it looks like a beautiful ground.”

Moore retired in 2016 after battling an ongoing knee complaint but believes the Port Douglas climate has done wonders for the creaky joint.

The two clubs, Port and Hermit Park, will play in the curtain-raiser to the Round 1 AFL Premiership blockbuster at Cazalys Stadium between the Gold Coast Suns and North Melbourne.

The Crocs will be without Declan Kelly, arguably the best centre half-back in AFL Cairns, this season.

The much-loved figure around the club suffered a nasty injury to his eye before Christmas while at work and has undergone eye surgery in Cairns and Melbourne with more surgery required.

Hermit Park will feature a handful of players from other AFL Townsville club’s today as they are keen to impress North Queensland representative coach Brad Cooper, who doubles as the Crocs’ mentor.
