New addition joins Suburbs

Sleep is for the weak, or at least that’s the attitude Southern Suburbs stalwart Rickki Sutherland has come to terms with after becoming a dad last week. SLEEP is for the weak, or at least that’s the attitude Southern Suburbs stalwart Rickki Sutherland has come to terms with after becoming a dad last week.

The club favourite and wife Jalaine celebrated the arrival of a little girl, Sophia Rose, and it’s set to be an added inspiration at Alley Park tonight.

“I’m pretty stoked to be honest,” Sutherland said.

“We had a little girl, Sophia Rose. It’s only been a week but it sorts you out, you’ve got to start getting into a routine and things like that, get used to no sleep.”

If she’s anything like her mum, who has been an “absolute machine” as the club’s registrar, and dad, little Sophia will love the atmosphere of her first home game.

Sutherland plans to make it a winning one.

“It’s a big game this weekend against Ivanhoes. We always give them something extra when we get on the field,” he said.

“We’ve got some good young kids coming through but our core is pretty stable.

“Luke Saunders (coach) has put the club in a good stead for the year, brought a new attitude, his coaching philosophy is pretty good and hopefully once we buy into it we’ll have a good year.”

Suburbs have received a massive boost with Pride hooker Connor Jones to join the squad to face Ivanhoes.
