-

EDUCATION

A minimum of a Year 10 qualification is often need to start work within a business on a traineeship. Year 12 qualifications would also be helpful and provide a wider base of knowledge. A traineeship often leads to an entry level job in areas such as administration or bookkeeping, depending on the interest of the participant and needs of the business. As part of the training, a Certificate III Business is required to be completed in Australia.

MORE TRAINING

After a traineeship and once a permanent job has been secured in the desired field, employees can choose to do a business degree at university or specialise in areas such as accounting, sales, marketing, law or information technology. Depending on the size and requirements of a business, plenty of training may be offered through the employer in human resources, management or digital skills.

PAY SCALE

Administration and business traineeships usually pay low wages because the employee is still learning skills and knowledge and is receiving intensive training. Salaries could be as low as $30,000.

WHO TO CONTACT

Plenty of organisations offer business traineeships including local TAFEs and registered training organisations. If there is a particular industry or business which appeals, consider doorknocking them.
