HERE’S HOW TO GET FOOT IN THE DOOR OF RECRUITMENT FIELD

-

EDUCATION

Unlike many other careers, recruiters do not necessarily need to hold any particular qualifications. Many of the skills needed can be gained through experience in a human resources position. Many recruiting professionals, however, have a bachelor’s degree in human resources or industrial relations or management. Some also have business qualifications. Whether or not a degree is the right choice, it could enhance marketability.

MORE TRAINING

There are often industry training sessions which recruiters will attend to keep up to date with changes to laws and hiring strategies or to gain an understanding of who employers are seeking for different roles. Some recruiters who start their own businesses may also invest in a masters of business, accounting courses or other management-related courses to help with the day-to-day running of the company.

PAY SCALE

The average pay for a recruiter is $60,000 per year and for the first five to 10 years in this position, pay increases steeply. The salary does vary, however, depending on the place of employment and field of recruitment.
