KATELYNN Thorley is passionate about skin and helping people so was drawn to the beauty therapy industry.

For the last six years, Ms Thorley has worked hard to become a senior laser technician at Laser Clinics Australia in Cairns Central.

Ms Thorley, 22, said she loves her job, which often helped people with debilitating skin concerns.

“When they walk in the door with little confidence and are put on a treatment plan, seeing them a few months down the track and the difference the treatments have made to their daily life is rewarding,” she said.

“Working for LCA allows me to provide results driven treatments with leading, medical and cosmetic grade equipment.”

Ms Thorley said she began as a laser and skin therapist and had since expanded her role into laser hair removal, laser pigmentation and vascular reduction treatments.

“I am now able to perform more advanced laser treatments,” she said.

“I am also a skin specialist within the clinic and am currently completing my Skinstistut Ambassador program … once qualified I become a certified paramedical therapist.”

Ms Thorley said a typical day was varied and involved consulting clients on laser hair removal, skin rejuvenation or maintenance treatments and working with cosmetic nurse injectors where needed.

“A major part of my job is creating the customer experience and providing life changing, tangible results for clients,” she said.

“To anyone who is considering a job in the beauty industry I highly recommend it.

“The aesthetic industry is growing year on year and to have clients walk out the door looking and feeling better … is very satisfying.”
