EXCITING TIMES AHEAD

-

Q How have you seen the offseason for the A-League? Usain Bolt (pictured) and Keisuke Honda have created a few headlines and brought interest to the upcoming season.

A Honda is a very good player and has been around for a very long time. He has played for his country 90 times, he is a high quality player. The Usain Bolt one, I am not so sure about that, but we will see how that happens. Obviously it will create a lot of newspaper talk, people are excited about it but let’s put it this way, he has not played many games. There are other big signings that will come into the league as well but there are a lot of new coaches in the league as well. Perth, Western Sydney, Central Coast, Wellington and me at Sydney. It is a huge turnover. That adds another interest because teams will look different.

AQ You have been the assistant coach for the last couple of years so you would have observed Graham in the top role closely. But, what are the differences between the roles that you did not expect? It does change. When you are an assistant, you are organising things for training but if you are the head coach, you are always solving problems. Everyone comes to you for advice and you are always making decisions, instead of following them. There is a lot of things as an assistant that you do not see the head coach doing. I did not see Arnie do a few things and now it is up to me to do them. But that is why you have a very good team around you to help. We work well as a team and there is quite a few new staff as well. That is why we are away in camp as well to get to know them.
