To go west

-

WITH its proximity to the Red Arrow and other walking tracks, cafes, gyms and yoga studios, Edge Hill homeowner Cheryl Britton believes a property in the suburb is well worth the financial investment.

She bought her Hall St Queenslander in 2015 and embarked on a renovation project to modernise the home’s inside while keeping its facade true to character.

Ms Britton said, while she knew prices in the suburb were at a premium, paying them was worth it.

“Edge Hill offers so much and in relation to other cities in Australia, Cairns does too,” she said.

“Specifically Hall St – it has nice houses, they’re well maintained and it is a really lovely community. We have made lots of friends, everyone’s friendly and helpful without being intrusive.

“I used to live in Freshwater and found I was driving here every day to go to the gym or meet at a cafe, plus it’s so close to towns, it was a good decision.”

The flat, quiet streets make it easy for the kids to ride their bikes and Ms Britton said there was a safe environment for her children to grow up in.

Last month, The Cairns Post asked 20 agents to nominate the best five streets in Cairns.

The short, leafy, but wide, Hall St in Edge Hill came in second behind the 2.5km Esplanade. The Peak, Brinsmead was third, Williams Esp, Palm Cove fourth and Hibiscus Lane at Holloways Beach, fifth.
