Help star attraction celebrate milestone
IN THE words of everybody’s favourite animated, anthropomorphic crab Sebastian: “darling, it’s better, down where it’s wetter, under the sea”.
But this weekend, you don’t have to get wet to experience all of the wonder and excitement of an underwater kingdom. Cairns Aquarium is celebrating its very first birthday and everyone is invited to join in the celebrations.
The Cairns Aquarium Birthday Fiesta will include animal interaction, entertainers, facepainting, crafts, giveaways including pancakes, Peters icecreams and on-the-spot prizes.
And, of course, no aquarium party would be complete without a massive, sea creature-inspired birthday cake.
Cairns Aquarium founders and directors Daniel Leipnik and Andrew Preston are extremely proud to be celebrating the one-year milestone.
They began the six-year process that would bring the world-class tourist attraction and reef research facility to life back in 2011.
“A total of 15,000 animals and 71 habitats have been meticulously researched and replicated throughout the aquarium,” Daniel says. “This is to ensure that visitors can enjoy an immersive journey, where they are guaranteed to see and interact with some of the rarest and most elusive animals on earth. It’s been our absolute pleasure to showcase and share our journey with the local Cairns community and the many visitors to our region.”
The Birthday Fiesta weekend also coincides with the launch of Cairns Aquarium’s Annual Pass renewal program.
Members who renew or sign up before December 31, 2018, will go into the draw to win an overseas holiday with SilkAir, as well as other exciting runner-up prizes. Cairns Aquarium’s Birthday Fiesta weekend is on today and tomorrow and is open to all Cairns Aquarium Annual Pass Holders and invited guests. Locals and visitors are also welcome to join in the fun and celebrations via general admission.
