Dining hotspot planned
TRINITY Beach is primed for a new waterfront dining precinct as the new owners of the $6 million Beach House development turn their eyes to the culinary arts.
A syndicate of local buyers spearheaded by Trinity Accountants principal Rod Sherrington took over the property this week.
They plan to open four new beachside restaurants, ground floor retail operations and office spaces on the upper floor.
Custom internal fit-outs for the restaurants are underway now. A local mystery restaurateur has already signed up.
“The Beach House has fantastic potential to transform and reposition Trinity Beach with an exciting new choice of restaurants and retail benefiting both locals and visitors,” Mr Sherrington said.
“When it opens for business in time for Easter next year, the Beach House will effectively correct that shortage with four new dining outlets or drawcards that refocus the spotlight on Trinity Beach as a destination to visit.”
The 1938sq m attraction was built over two years on the former home of Trinity Beach Bar and Grill. Division 9 councillor Brett Olds said Cairns Regional Council wanted to help revitalise the precinct with performance art, busking stations and “seafood by the sea”.
“We’re approaching the Department of National Resources about letting restaurants set up on the beach,” he said. “They could have deck chairs, a roped-off area, some live music and buckets of beers and prawns on the sand.”
