HAPPY IN THIS ROLE

Q With the amount of T20 cricket you play these days, it would be hard to force your way back into Sheffield Shield cricket. (Dunk last played first-class cricket in 2016). But, do you still have interest in longer form cricket? You are only 31 so there is still the opportunity. A A lot of things would have to fall into place for me to do it again. I have settled into a really good lifestyle with my family now and having control over my own training and how I go about it. And, spending short periods at home to play T20 has become ideal for me. To go back into the daily grind (it is not a daily grind to play cricket but when you compare it to T20 it is) of first-class would be a big step in my mind. It is mental as much as physical. I am really comfortable with where I am and my cricket at the minute. There would have to be a lot of water to go under the bridge for me to play first-class cricket again. I am not getting any younger and the weeks spent playing on a park field on the back end of the Gold Coast or something, could be a week spent in Dubai for me. First-class is a young man’s game these days. It is nice to be out of that now and playing the old man’s game which is T20. From a players point of view, I had a great time playing in the T10 tournament recently, it was a lot of fun but people on a much higher pay scale than me will decide if tournaments like that will get picked up in other countries around the world.
