NRL launches ad campaign in Super Bowl territory

-

million people are expected to tune into the clash between New England and Los Angeles.

Three billboards have been spread out in Atlanta promoting the premiers the Sydney Roosters as “world champions of football” with Boyd Cordner, James Tedesco and Latrell Mitchell pictured.

Australian captain Cordner is showing off the Roosters premiership ring.

NRL head of commercial Andrew Abdo said it was a tongue-in-cheek way of promoting the NRL on the eve of the 2019 premiership.

“No doubt there will be plenty of people in Atlanta scratching their heads and wondering who the Roosters are,” Abdo said.

“Americans always claim their domestic league winners, whether it’s NBA, MLB or NFL, are the world champions.

“If they can make this claim, why can’t we? If that encourages sports fans to make in- quiries about rugby league and look up the Roosters winning the 2018 grand final that can only help promote our game.”

The NRL will retain its presence in Atlanta all week leading into the Super Bowl.

One advert comes with the hashtag of #newworldchamps and other #nflvnrl.

“There is less than 50 days till kick-off and we are already getting messages from fans desperate for the season to begin,” Abdo said.

“There is added interest this year because of the coaching changes and the fact teams which missed the finals last year have recruited so well.”
