All Stars insights for SuperCoach

- CHRIS HONNERY

REP footy and pre-season trial games can be a nightmare for any SuperCoach with the possibility of injuries ruling out key players from your team.

There’s the chance some players go out too hard, too early in the season and become burnt out by August or September when it matters most.

But the upcoming All Stars clash in Melbourne on February 15 will be a blessing in disguise for us SuperCoaches.

The game will showcase the best players proudly representing their cultures for either the Australian Indigenous All Stars or the New Zealand Maori Kiwis.

The clash means a lot to the players selected, with Latrell Mitchell opting to play for the Indigenous side instead of joining his Sydney Roosters teammates for the World Club Challenge in the UK. It means there will be plenty of heart in this game and an early glimpse for SuperCoaches to see who looks set to shine in 2019.

Hon’s Heroes will be keeping a close eye on our halves pairing of Kalyn Ponga and Jahrome Hughes – who have both been named in the Maori team – to see how they handle their relatively new positions.

It will also be a good chance to see how a few of our fresh faces have shaped up after preseason, including Jesse Ramien, Tyrone Peachey and Ben Barba, who have each been picked for the Indigenous All Stars team.
