Jesse ready to rumble for Maoris

-

MELBOURNE Storm enforcer Jesse Bromwich will not hold anything back when he fulfils a lifelong dream to run out for the New Zealand Maori All-Stars.

The hulking prop is one of five Storm players named in extended Maori and Australian Indigenous All-Star teams ahead of the February 15 blockbuster at AAMI Park.

“When I step out there it’s all that matters, the next 80 minutes, take care of the rest after it,” Bromwich said.

“You don’t go out there trying to save yourself for the next game, you go out there trying to do your best for the team that you’re playing for at that time.”

The Storm have always been a supporter of representative football despite the risk of injury, adamant players benefit from the experience.

Jahrome Hughes and Bran- don Smith will represent the Maori, along with ex-Storm favourites Tohu Harris, Jordan McLean and Adam Blair.

Josh Addo-Carr has been named on the wing for the Indigenous All-Stars but Will Chambers missed out on a starting role with Latrell Mitchell and James Roberts selected on their respective edges.

“It’s definitely something special,” Bromwich said. “I’ve been lucky enough to play for the Kiwis and the Storm but the Maoris is definitely something I wanted to do before I retired and to be able to get that chance to do it in Melbourne … is very special.”
