Next stage in development

-

PROLIFIC developer and home builder John Richardson and his Kenfrost Homes team are forging ahead with their Mount Peter Residential Estate between Edmonton and Gordonvale.

They are about to start on stage four involving 70 blocks as part of the $1 billion 1000-lot project on former caneland with rainforested mountain backdrops.

Stage 4 is worth about $30 million and will provide work for 100 people.

In the next two years a shopping centre with anchor tenants Coles and Woolworths and 12 speciality stores will be included.

In the future there will be more parks, sporting and community facilities, public schools and cinemas.

The estate is attracting more families every week and is fast becoming a community in its own right.

Next door is the Catholic Church’s rapidly expanding MacKillop College.

The Aussie dream of quarter-acre blocks is no longer realistic and affordable, but these properties are allowing families to enter the new home market in masterplanned suburbs with all the necessary facilities close at hand.

Stage 4 will go to the market later this year when construction is completed after the wet season.

Stages 1, 2 and 3 have been completed and stages 6 and 7 have been titled.

By the time it is completed within 30 years more than 13,000 houses will cover an area from Stoney Creek to Draper Rd.

The Mount Peter area is the future of Cairns and the upgrading of the Bruce Highway will ensure quicker access to the CBD, airport, shopping, dining and entertainment facilities.
