Spice is just right at Coconuts Restaurant

-

ALICIA NALLY REDLYNCH Valley residents have been hoovering spicy curries and parmigianas with gusto at the suburb’s newest place for a feed.

Coconuts Restaurant and Bar owner Don Liyanhe has taken his business from Holloways Beach into the mountains after a “better venue” became available.

The building on Gamburra Dr was home to Cascades Cafe Bar and Grill which was opened by Matt and Bruce Jones a year ago at the site of the former Kingfisher Convenience Store.

Mr Liyanhe opened his curry house almost two months ago and has just got a liquor licence, so all is ready for refreshing cocktails, local Macalister beers and wines.

“This is a better venue because there are no other shops or anything around,” he said.

“We started just doing Sri Lankan curries but now we’re doing steak and parmigiana and lamb cutlets.

“We get lots of locals, especially on a Friday evening, and we are started to host live music events this weekend.”

Mr Liyanhe has also set up a trampoline for the kids.

Tamara Freeman wrote in an online review that Coconuts staff “were lovely, steak perfect, beautiful wines, try the calamari it was sooooo tender”.

Luke Sutton and family had breakfast on their first visit.

“The staff were amazing and the food and coffee was proper delicious! Such a little gem in a spectacular location,” he wrote. Coconuts is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 8am until 10pm every day, except Monday.
