THE results are in and the Far North’s stunning coastline has emerged as home to the most properties on the list of 2019’s top real estate sales.

Port Douglas topped the list, compiled from realestate. com.au data, with the $5.1 million transaction of 2 Murphy St.

The five-bedroom, fivebathroom home with a stunning, resort-style pool is built over three levels and has views over Dickson’s Inlet and to the mountains beyond.

4 Mudlo St ($1.725 million), 6 Solander Blvd ($1.7 million) and 2/62 Garrick St ($1.6 million) were also notable mentions in the exclusive seaside township.

“While fewer homes cracked the $2 million mark than we have seen in the past couple of years, it was very encouraging to see transactions occur at the very top of the market, including the first in Cairns itself in almost a decade,” Real Estate Institute of Queensland Far North zone chairman Tom Quaid said.

“There were even two sales $4 million or above. The numbers of sales over $1 million was very encouraging and time on the ground suggests that buyers are still seeing some great value in these price ranges, with many of these homes asking less than modern replacement value.

“Beachfront and elevated positions continue to dominate, maintaining the mantra: ‘location, location, location’.”

Holloways Beach’s 2-4 Hibiscus Lane came in second with a $4 million sale to a local buyer, and the Cassowary Coast had two entries, 73 Explorers Dr, South Mission Beach for $2.15 million and 62 Reid Rd, Wongaling Beach for $1.665 million.
