MAKING MOST OF MORE VERSATILE ROLE

-

Q AWhat have your conversations been like with your coaches about what your role will be in the 2020 season? I am hoping to be able to play around the forward and wing positions, much as I was last year, but you just never know sometimes. It is all about different match-ups each week and I could be playing in any position. Is that a positive for you within the team that you can slide into different roles comfortably?

I can be a bit of a utility like that and play anywhere, but hopefully I get to be in that forward and wing role often to start off with, which would be good.

Q AQ AWhat has it been like this week leading into Round 1 ahead of the first team selection of the season? It is nervous for everyone because you cannot be too certain on being selected in the opening round team. I feel like it is good to be nervous on a personal level because you do not want to be too cocky about it all. I am really nervous heading into Round 1 because you never really know what is coming up.

What did your off-season look like, how much local footy could you play through winter?

I played for Melbourne University this year and they are going to become North Melbourne from now on. The AFLW listed players were only permitted to play a certain number of games in the lower league. I only played a few games but in the games I played I thought I went well. It is kind of good as well, not being able to play all season, because you do need that break from the professional league.

Do your family and friends get down to Melbourne from Cairns to watch games?

Everyone tries to but it is hard to get down all the time. All my family is still in Cairns and my brother Hayden still plays with the Manunda Hawks. They are hoping to get down as much as possible this season.
