TRANSITION TO THE GAME’S BIG STAGE

-

QJust on your game, you look way more comfortable out there in the second half of the season, looking confident to make your three ball. Is that how you feel?

It is a big step up from the start of the year, being the first year playing in the NBL. The more minutes you get and being thrown out there in more tough situations, you get more confident. Shooting the three ball, it is something that the coaches really emphasise for me and want me to work on. I can still get better around decision-making, but I think I am on the right path, the coaches’ talk to me about growth and being confident in myself, that is what I am trying to do. I am not trying to do

Atoo much when I get out there, maybe I can be a bit more assertive, but I am more comfortable with the chances I get and letting my shot fly and trying to make plays when I can. Even going down to represent the club at the NBL finals launch is a big step for a guy who was a development player last season?

It has been unreal. Representing the club, it is an awesome feeling and I have loved my time over the last two years in Cairns and the community. I still have a ways to go, I know how I can be as a player and what I can do. I do not want to stay comfortable about what I have done this season – there is still growth to come.

Q AQ AWhere do you feel the club turned it around this season? Is there a game or moment that stands out? The first win against Perth. In those first three games of the season, we had stretches where we were pretty good and showed what we could do, but we could not put it together. Against Perth, that was the first time that we did 40 minutes of an awesome job. We took that game and ran with it. It still took us a couple of games after that to be consistent for as close to 40 minutes as possible. That Perth game, we had confidence and we could see where we were all going. That first win showed me exactly what we were capable of doing.
