SINGERS CAN JOIN IN ONLINE

-

LEARN new skills, make new friends and beat boredom from the safety and comfort of your home by joining a virtual choir. The Viral Choir is the new extension of Soul Song Choirs, which due to COVID-19 social distancing regulations, can no longer meet in person. Fortunately, they can still perform digitally and invitations are open to the public to join a flexible four-week program, with tutorials and rehearsals, to then have the opportunity to be part of an international, virtual choir. Founder Jacquelin Larsen said more than 500 people had already expressed interest from more than 14 countries. She said no previous skills were required, just a smartphone or laptop and internet connection.

“It’ll be a fun, and safe way for families to pass time during their lockdowns,” Ms Larsen said. “There are four songs to choose from and you can participate in all four or just one. It’ll be a great skill to pick up for those who have been interested in singing but never had the courage to do it publicly,” she said. The four-week program includes a huge library of training exercises which can be accessed any time, plus daily live, online workshops with Ms Larsen. After four weeks, participants can upload a video of themselves singing, which will be merged with all other submissions to create a choir. Registrations are $40 and open today at www.soulsongchoirs.com.au/viralchoir and classes begin on Monday.
