Mount Garnet kids warmly welcome gift

-

SARAH NICHOLSON

MOUNT Garnet police have guaranteed kids from the local state school won’t be going cold by donating jumpers to keep them snug on chilly Tablelands’ mornings.

Principal Tracey Moore noticed several Mount Garnet State School students had been going to class without warm clothes so told the local constabulary who bought 60 of the fleece uniform sweaters with one going to everyone on the roll.

Senior Constable Sharron

Molyneux said there was money left in the station’s coffers after COVID-19 restrictions put a stop to the community outreach programs so police decided to put the funds towards supporting the hamlet’s youngest residents.

“We normally have the Blue Light disco and movie nights, and we were doing after-school activities like playing cricket with the kids, but we can’t run any of them this term,” she said

“The kids were delighted and said they would be nice and warm now.”
