“I try and stay as positive as I can,”

Esposito says.

Like many industries, coronavirus has shut down Hollywood with film and television productions the world over in limbo.

“I know that this won’t last forever,” she says. “People are getting creative because it has been a few months of this. I feel like things are going to start happening again soon.”

Esposito would be familiar to Australian television viewers for playing Cynthia in TV drama Love Child. Since moving to the US, she has appeared in films including Arctic Apocalypse and American Psychos.

This year, she has two Australian movies set for release, the first of which was shot in the Blue Mountains near Sydney and is called The Legend Of The Five.

The family-fantasy film centres around five teens who are caught up in an incident while on a school excursion.

“Once I moved here, I started to book jobs back home again,” she says with a laugh. “Of course that happens. I am very grateful that I can work in both places, for sure.”

Legend Of The Five also stars Tiriel Mora, Gabi Sproule, Nicholas Andrianakos, Leigh Joel Scott and Deborah An.

“The kids don’t really know each other, they are not friends, they all come from very different walks of life and they go on this excursion and they end up finding this historical staff,” she explains. “They are transported into this magical world full of fairies and creatures and have to come together to find their way home.”

Esposito hinted producers may have a whole franchise ready to roll out. “There’s five kids so five movies, that would be cool,” she says.

Legend Of The Five is in cinemas now and is one of the first new releases to hit theatres since coronavirus struck earlier this year.

Esposito’s other Australian film — Swimming For Gold — was shot on the Gold Coast with American star Peyton List.
