“There will be thousands of titles on sale, covering every subject,” he said.

“Some people are into history, we have one guy from Cairns who brings up fantastic military stuff, we have a lady with a massive amount of kids’ books, and I have a very broad range of subjects.

“Because I live so close to the community hall I find myself running home during the day to restock and get specific books for people.

“There will be many books you can’t buy anywhere else, and we know the COVID-19 restrictions mean that it’s taking months for books to be delivered from overseas and even weeks when they’re coming from other parts of Australia.”

Far North authors Robert Reid, Paul Curtis, Steven Nowakowski, Cliff and Dawn Frith, Roy Jaques, Janette Murray-Wakelin, Ann Harth, Stephen Price, Viviana Verheesen, Graham Burridge and Robert Taylor will be attending the fair.

Mareeba’s Irene Shanks will launch her book On Board the HMB Endeavour – with the local author’s adaptation of Captain James Cook's journals – and Krissy Regan from Townsville will also be unveiling her new work The Koala Who Lost His Heart.

Mr Tsilemanis runs his business from the garage of his Eacham Street home and has been collecting tomes to sell to serious booklovers for the past 13 years.

“Once people know I’m here they keep popping in,” he said.

“I don’t have a lot of customers but I have good customers because I have good books.”

The Yungaburra Book Fair will be at the Yungaburra Community Hall between 9am and 4pm.
