WHAT THEY SAID AT CANNON PARK

-

Race 1 – QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap (1250m)

Robig for trainer Roy Chillemi and jockey Wanderson D’Avila: “He has taken a while for this horse to improve,” Chillemi said. “He is going to be a handy horse up to a mile, Wanderson even said that, he will want more.”

Race 2 – Class 6 Handicap (1250m)

Sparkly Star for trainer Ricky Ludwig and jockey Graham Kliese: “He has been good; he has started to get used to my place and settle in a little bit after coming over from Michael Lee,” Ludwig said.

“He has always shown ability. That was his first win today over 1250m.”

Race 3 – Open Handicap (1600m)

Salesman for trainer Trevor Rowe and jockey Krysten Swaffer: “Krysten is doing well and the horse is going well, too,” Rowe said. “He just likes to get out and roll along, it is his temperament. In the stable if he does not want to do something, he will not do it.

“In the races, Krysten is just letting him roll along – that is working and we are not going to change that.”

Race 4 – Open Handicap (950m)

Beraht for trainer Janel Ryan and jockey Graham Kliese:

“I was pretty confident with him as he had the race fitness,” stable representative Ronnie Ryan said.

Race 5 – Maiden Handicap (1400m)

Purrfectionist for trainer Mark Dale and jockey Les Tilley:

“The education has helped him – he had a nice ride from Stephen Wilson the other day at Mareeba,” Dale said.

“I wanted to teach him something that day and it has helped today as he has come out and won well.”

Race 6 – Benchmark 65 Handicap (1400m)

Pure Rebel for trainer Fred Wieland and jockey Nathan Day: “I have won on him before, for Fred and when he was with Bill Kenning as well,” Day said.

“Fred thought he would win today and he has got him going well.”

Race 7 – Class 3 Handicap (950m)

Our Chiquilla for trainer Scott Cooper and jockey Emily Cass: “She did perform well the other day and Emily rode her quieter today,” Cooper said.

“Instead of leading, we took a bit of a sit and we were on the better going of the track, as well.”

Race 8 – Benchmark 58 Handicap (1250m)

El Of A Saga for trainer Fred Wieland and jockey Emily Cass: “That is good to get two wins in a row, she was stuck on the bad part of the track for most of it,” Wieland said.
