Grand final Pie calls time, while another is delisted

-

COLLINGWOOD has parted ways with midfield bull Brayden Sier after he failed to make a regular senior impact since playing in the 2018 grand final.

Sier, 27, was delisted after 28 games and three goals across six seasons.

Another player from Collingwood’s losing grand final side to West Coast, Josh Thomas, will no longer be pulling on the black and white jumper after retiring.

Collingwood also cut Jay Rantall after three seasons. Rantall was pick 40 in the 2019 national draft.

“We thank ‘Bear’ and Jay ... they wrote themselves into the Collingwood story and will always be welcome,” football boss Graham Wright said.

The Magpies delisted rookie Isaac Chugg but have committed to selecting him in the rookie draft.

Thomas, 30, intends to pursue a post-AFL career in the finance sector.

“To have pulled on the

black and white stripes over 100 times has been a tremendous privilege and something that I will hold dearly,” he said.

He kicked 101 goals across 123 games.

LIFE-long Saints fan Jack Lonie has been delisted by St Kilda.

The club announced it would not renew the 87-game forward’s contract.

“This was a really difficult decision to make,” Saints list boss James Gallagher said.

“A ‘dyed in the wool’ Saints fan as a kid, Jack grew up playing locally with Seaford and the Dandenong Stingrays and dreamed of pulling on the red, black and white in the AFL.

“Once drafted to St Kilda, he has never taken his AFL opportunity for granted and has played with a passion, enthusiasm and courage that earned him the respect and friendship of his teammates.”

St Kilda drafted Lonie, 25, at pick 41 in 2014 and he made his debut in round 1 the following year against GWS.
