MILLIONS NICE BUT GOOD THINGS ARE FREE

-

ANOTHER millionaire lives among us. They’re what you might call an overnight success. A Cairns man has won four point eight million lovely ones. As you’d expect, he’s looking forward to retiring from work and indulging in one of his passions — travel — as well as hiring a personal trainer.

“It’s all about the lifestyle for me. It means I can relax a bit and focus on what’s important to me,” he said.

“I’ll be able to retire from work if I want to or at least cut back significantly. I will spend more time with my family, and we can go on some amazing holidays all over the world.”

It’s sad but true that having a windfall such as this would be the only way of achieving such goals for many.

It doesn’t hurt to wonder though what one would do with the spoils of a giant Lotto win.

Here’s some ideas:

PUT in a bid to buy and relocate the Captain Cook statue. Surely such a long-time resident deserves a secure home.

WHILE moves are finally afoot to slash insurance prices for the Far North, a few lazy million would help fill the hole in anyone’s budget left by a lifetime of house and contents bills.

BUY a remote island to holiday on that is free from Covid, Covid deniers and Covid-conspiracy theories.

MONEY to buy a new house or pay the high rents that now plague the region. It would be nice to know there is money left over to put food on the table for those doing it really tough.

CHRISTMAS lights for everyone in Cairns. It’s been a long, hard road and everyone deserves a big cheery string of flashing fairy lights to brighten their lives.

Yes, millions of dollars would be nice, but the truth is kindness, love and empathy cost nothing. And this is the time of year to show it.
