RESERVES: BROTHERS V INNISFAIL, 4PM
BROTHERS 1. Luke Fleming
The captain-coach is the man pulling the strings for Brothers as they chase two titles on one day. Fleming is the conductor of this team, taking the responsibility to lead them around the park – with brilliant results to date. While his form with the ball will be key to success, his level-headedness and influence as the leader of this team could prove the difference. He was a finalist for the Lionel Williamson Medal.
2. Benjamin Blarrey
The tryscoring front-rower is never far from the action. The big man finished equal fifth in the tryscoring race, crossing the stripe eight times to be his team’s equal top tryscorer for the season with Bongie Bowie. He’s tough as nails, runs hard, tackles harder, and will be out to add a few more post-season tries to his record.
3. Peter Tuccandidgee
A former track and field gun, Tuccandidgee still has the pace and dedication to make a big difference on the footy field. He has a knack of scoring tries, his defensive work is sound, and the 37-year-old’s experience makes him one the key men for this reserve grade outfit. He scored six tries in reserve grade, as well as a bag of four-pointers in his few Agrade appearances.
INNISFAIL 1. Michael Morton
The Innisfail veteran will be the go-to man for the Leprechauns, with Morton named at halfback for his side’s quest for a breakthrough premiership. Morton has plenty of experience, and his kicking game will need to be on point to knock over a tough Brothers team. Morton, who is also a qualify goalkicker, finished the season as reserve grade’s highest pointscorer, jagging 130 points of his own.
2. Ayden Kris
He started the season in the centres for the A-grade side, and will finish it captaining the reserves from lock. Kris is among the group of versatile Leprechauns in this Innisfail line-up, giving the side plenty of fluidity. As captain, Kris will lead his team from the front.
3. Boche Satrick
A talented centre who can break a game open anywhere on the park. Satrick is among the many rising talents in the Far North, with his work in attack and defence making him a tough customer for any defence to defuse. He was Innisfail’s leading tryscorer in 2022, crossing eight times.
