Saturday’s round of one-dayers in Grampians Cricket Association’s A Grade competition saw results go according to ladder positions – one defeating five, two defeating three and four defeating six.

Swifts-great Western easily accounted for Tatyoon, doubling its opponent’s score.

Tatyoon won the toss and invited the Combine to bat, which at the end of the 45 overs was 5-186 with all top six batsman scoring over 20, Travis Nicholson the best with 33 not out.

In reply the Hawks were dismissed for 90, with young Jayden Mccartney again leading the bowling with 3-27.

Buangor has assured it will finish in the top two by beating Aradale. Aradale won the toss and elected to bat, but its top order crashed to be 6-37 before being rescued by Riley Wood, 56, Clinton Rodger, 17, and Cameron Ralph, 22, to finish on 8-135.

In reply Aradale was a big chance, having Buangor at one stage 6-63. But thanks to a 60-run partnership between Brayden Ferguson, 44, and Tyson Carr, 40, both unbeaten, Buangor was able to finish on 7-144 and clinch the win.

The final match saw Pomonal defeat Halls Gap, which enabled the Tigers to leap-frog over Aradale into third position.

Winning the toss and batting, the Tigers posted 9-159 thanks to Dave Padley’s 46 and Robbie Mckinnon, 28, and Scott Spark, 21.

Best of the Gappers’ bowlers was Gary Martin, 3-36, who had a great match; going on to top score with 40 runs in his team’s 128. The only other player to score runs was Damien Joiner with 34 against an attack which was dominated by Lee Oliver who had the great figures of 9-3-26-6.

On Sunday, Henry Gunstone Cup winner Youth Club represented the association against Wallan from Gisborne District Association in division two of Central Highlands region’s Cricket Willow T20.
