Advocacy group seeks members
A Grampians disability Advocacy Wimmera group is on the hunt for new members to strengthen the group’s capacity to bring about positive change.
The group meets four times a year in Horsham, with the aim to improve the local environment for people with disabilities.
Members have a lived experience of disability, care for a person with a disability or work in the disability sector.
Group facilitator and advocate Trudy Joyce said a core group of dedicated, committed and talented people were on board, but members would like to invite anyone else in Horsham or the surrounding district to join them to find out more.
The group also informs Grampians disability Advocacy Board about issues that affect people with disabilities living in Horsham and the wider Wimmera.
Executive officer Deborah Verdon said Grampians disability Advocacy provided advocacy support from Bacchus Marsh to the South Australian border.
“It’s very important that the board and management stays in touch with the things that matter to people living in Horsham and beyond,” she said.
