Stawell anglers ready for action

-

Stawell and District Angling Club’s next event is a Cup Run with $100 and a trophy up for grabs.

This will be at Lake Fyans starting at 7am on Saturday and finishing at noon, Sunday.

A final weigh-in will be at the clubhouse at 12.15pm.

The club is inviting as many members as possible to gather at the clubhouse on Saturday night for a get-together and welcome of new members.

Horsham Angling Club will continue with its catfish competition, which will run on the Wimmera River from 4.30pm Saturday to noon on Sunday.

Weigh-in will be at Sawyer Park clubrooms. There is a prize for heaviest bag of carp in senior and junior categories. Competitors must fish within a 100-kilometre radius of Horsham.

Most Wimmera lakes seem to be producing good feeds of redfin, which are taking a variety of baits and lures.

If you are travelling out of the region, there is a lot of trophy-size cod and yellowbelly being caught on big deep-diving lures at Lake Eildon. Lake Purrumbete has also had great fishing lately with some anglers catching more than 100 redfin in a day.

Scarlett Abbott won the Webbcon Marine $50 voucher for her photographic submission in January. For a chance to win, send your angling photos to hac3400@hotmail.com.
